Universal Pictures
Carl Laemmle founded Universal Studios on April 30, along with six other partners, including Mark Dintenfass and Charles O. Baumann. The company began operations in 1912, initially producing films under the name 'Laemmle Brothers' before changing its name to Universal Studios. As one of the oldest film studios in the US and among the five oldest globally, Universal has played a significant role in the history of cinema. Initially part of the 'Little Three' majors during Hollywood's golden age, the company now operates as part of the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, alongside various subsidiaries such as Focus Features and Illumination.
