Fletch

1985

Undercover Los Angeles Times reporter Irwin M. "Fletch" Fletcher poses as an addict to expose drug trafficking on the beaches of Los Angeles. While working undercover, he meets wealthy businessman Alan Stanwyk, who claims to have terminal cancer and offers Fletch $50,000 to kill him. Fletch is skeptical and starts investigating Stanwyk, uncovering evidence of a bigamous marriage and a scheme to fake Stanwyk's own death and escape with a large sum of money. As Fletch digs deeper, his life is threatened, and he must navigate a complex web of deceit and corruption involving Stanwyk, the police chief, and organized crime figures. Eventually, Fletch exposes Stanwyk's true intentions and helps bring him down, securing his own safety and earning the gratitude of the woman he eventually falls in love with.
