Dragnet

1987

In a seemingly unrelated series of events, LAPD Sergeant Joe Friday, nephew of the original Joe Friday, finds himself paired with a cocky and streetwise new partner, Pep Streebek, as they investigate a series of bizarre thefts. The duo's contrasting styles clash initially, but they eventually bond while tracking down a cult known as P.A.G.A.N., which has been stealing items from a pornographic magazine publisher. As they delve deeper, they uncover a sinister plot involving a ritual, a gas-making operation, and a corrupt police commissioner. After a series of misadventures, including a failed attempt to arrest the cult leader, Friday and Streebek successfully foil the plot, leading to the cult leader's conviction and the downfall of the corrupt politician. In the end, Friday and Streebek continue their partnership, and Joe Friday even starts dating the woman he once referred to as "the virgin".
