The 'Burbs

1989

Ray Peterson, a suburban homeowner, becomes suspicious of his new neighbors, the Klopeks, after hearing strange noises coming from their basement and observing them engaging in bizarre activities. As he shares his concerns with his neighbors, a series of misadventures unfolds, fueled by paranoia and a desire to uncover the truth behind the seemingly sinister Klopeks. Despite the chaos that ensues, including a dramatic explosion and a wild goose chase through the streets, Ray ultimately discovers that his fears were unfounded, and the Klopeks are simply eccentric and unsuspecting of the harm they may have caused. The film's darkly comedic tone and satirical portrayal of suburban life add to its enduring cult classic status.
