Michael Ritchie
As a young filmmaker, Michael Ritchie began his career in television, eventually transitioning into feature filmmaking. His breakthrough came with the 1969 film Downhill Racer, which showcased his ability to balance action and comedy. Ritchie's subsequent films, including The Candidate (1972) and Smile (1975), further established him as a master of satire and social commentary. In addition to these critically acclaimed efforts, he also directed sports films like The Bad News Bears (1976) and comedies featuring notable stars, such as Chevy Chase's Fletch (1985) and Eddie Murphy's The Golden Child (1986).
