Gregory McDonald
American novelist Gregory Burke Christopher McDonald began his career as a journalist before transitioning to writing fiction. His breakthrough novel, Fletch, earned him the Best First Novel award from the Mystery Writers of America in 1975, and its sequel, Confess, Fletch, took home the prize for Best Paperback Original in 1977, marking the only instance a novel and its sequel won consecutive Edgars. McDonald went on to author seven additional novels in the Fletch series, as well as standalone works, cementing the investigative reporter's enduring popularity.
