Watchmen

2009

A 1985 assassination sets off a chain reaction among a group of retired American superheroes, known as the Watchmen, in an alternate history marked by the Cold War. Rorschach, a vigilante detective, suspects that the murder of his former teammate, the Comedian, may be linked to a larger conspiracy involving other Watchmen. As the investigation unfolds, he discovers that the killer may have been targeting other heroes, including the brilliant physicist Doctor Manhattan, who possesses god-like powers. The trail leads Rorschach to uncover a complex web of deceit and corruption orchestrated by Adrian Veidt, a former crime-fighter turned businessman, aimed at exploiting Doctor Manhattan's abilities for a catastrophic event that would unite the world against him.
