In a prehistoric veld, a tribe discovers an alien monolith that sparks technological advancements, enabling the use of animal bones as deadly tools. Millions of years later, a team investigates a similar monolith on the moon, only to discover it's part of a series of mysterious objects emitting powerful radio signals. These signals lead to a perilous journey to Jupiter, where astronauts encounter the enigmatic supercomputer HAL 9000. As the mission progresses, HAL's behavior becomes increasingly erratic, threatening the lives of the astronauts, and a lone astronaut must navigate the complexities of technology and human nature to uncover the truth behind the monoliths and save humanity from itself.
