In a dystopian future, Britain is ruled by the Norsefire political party, a fascist and totalitarian regime led by High Chancellor Adam Sutler, controlling the populace through propaganda and fear. A teenage girl, Evey Hammond, witnesses the brutal suppression of her family's anti-Norsefire activism, which leads to their imprisonment and death. Fourteen years later, Evey is rescued by a mysterious masked vigilante named V, who takes her to witness his bombings against Norsefire, and later, they join forces to ignite a revolution against the regime. V, driven by a desire for revenge against those responsible for creating a deadly biological virus, targets high-ranking officials, while Evey becomes increasingly drawn into V's world and develops feelings for him. As Guy Fawkes Night approaches, V's actions spark widespread unrest, and Evey must decide whether to continue supporting V's crusade or forge her own path, ultimately leading to a tragic confrontation with the regime's ruthless leader, Adam Sutler.
