A young gas station attendant named Shane O'Shea is drawn to the glamour of New York City's nightlife, particularly the infamous Studio 54, after befriending a couple of his coworkers who work there. Upon arrival, Shane is chosen to enter the club and is introduced to its hedonistic world of excess and debauchery. He soon becomes embroiled in a world of sex, drugs, and celebrity, quickly rising through the ranks to become a popular bartender, posing for photoshoots, and mingling with the city's elite. However, as Shane's fame grows, so does his isolation from his family and friends, leading to a downward spiral of self-discovery and disillusionment, culminating in a dramatic confrontation with the club's owner, Steve Rubell, on New Year's Eve 1979. This pivotal moment marks the beginning of the end for Shane's time at 54, as well as his relationships with those closest to him.
