Director
Mark Christopher
Born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Christopher began his career in the film industry, making his mark with influential short films such as The Dead Boys Club, an early example of the New Queer Cinema wave, and Alkali, Iowa, which won the Teddy award at the Berlin International Film Festival. His breakthrough feature, 54, was released in 1998 and received significant attention upon its initial cut, but a later director's cut, featuring nearly 40 minutes of restored footage, garnered universal acclaim from critics. This restoration project allowed Christopher to reexamine and reimagine his earlier work, solidifying his reputation within the film community.
