1980 · 217 min · R

James Averill, a Harvard-educated sheriff, finds himself at the centre of a brewing storm in Jackson County, Wyoming, where impoverished immigrants are clashing with affluent cattle farmers. Politically influential ranchers have enlisted the services of Nathan Champion, a mercenary with his own motivations, including a romantic interest in local madam Ella Watson. As the situation spirals out of control, both Averill and Champion are forced to re-evaluate their roles and allegiances, caught between their duties and personal ambitions amidst the escalating tensions.
