American Sniper

2014

Chris Kyle grows up learning to shoot a rifle from his father in Texas before becoming a ranch hand and rodeo cowboy. Following the 1998 US embassy bombings, he enlists in the Navy and undergoes special training to become a sniper with the US Navy SEALs. In Iraq, Kyle earns the nickname 'Legend' for his many kills, but is visibly shaken by his first combat experience, killing a woman and a boy who attacked US Marines. As he continues his tours, Kyle faces personal struggles and growing concerns from his wife Taya, who wishes he would focus on their family life. Eventually, Kyle undertakes a fourth tour despite Taya's warnings, leading to a final confrontation with Mustafa, a Syrian sniper who has been a thorn in his side throughout the conflict. Kyle's experiences take a toll on his mental health, but he eventually finds solace in helping other veterans struggling with PTSD.
