Village Roadshow Pictures

Village Roadshow Pictures was established in 1989 as a film production company. Initially, it focused on producing films, often collaborating with other studios like Warner Bros. Their output includes notable titles such as The Matrix series, Ocean's series, The Lego Movie, and Happy Feet. This production company has seen success at the box office, achieving 34 number one U.S. openings and earning 19 Academy Awards from 50 nominations, along with six Golden Globe Awards. In addition to distributing its own films, Village Roadshow Pictures also partnered with other companies, including Sony Pictures, to co-finance certain projects. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2025, resulting in the sale of its library to Alcon Entertainment for $417.5 million later that year.
