In Padua High School, Cameron becomes infatuated with the popular Bianca Stratford, but her strict father has decreed that she cannot date until her older, socially awkward sister Kat does. Seeking a solution, Cameron enlists the help of Patrick Verona, a charming but troubled outsider. As Patrick gets closer to Kat, he begins to see beyond her tough exterior and discovers her hidden vulnerabilities. Meanwhile, Bianca finds herself developing feelings for Cameron, but her initial attraction to the wealthy and charismatic Joey Donner leads to complications. As relationships unfold and secrets are revealed, Bianca comes to realize that her ideal match may be the one person she least expects - Cameron.
