A detective is pulled out of retirement to hunt four androids hiding in a future city. This comes nearly half a century after a catastrophic accident involving a hyperspace gateway rendered Earth largely uninhabitable. In response, humanity has spread across the rocky planets and moons of the Solar System, establishing a new society. To combat the rising tide of crime, the Inter Solar System Police created a contract system, allowing registered bounty hunters - known colloquially as "Cowboys" - to pursue and apprehend criminals in exchange for rewards.
