John Hawkes

Born with the name John Marvin Perkins, he adopted the stage name John Hawkes due to another actor sharing his birth name. Hawkes co-founded the Big State Productions Theatre Company and made his debut in the group's original play, "In the West", at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. His breakthrough came in 2005 with the critically-acclaimed film Me and You and Everyone We Know, which won several awards, including the special jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival and the Camera d'Or Award at the Cannes Film Festival. In addition to his film work, Hawkes starred in the HBO series Deadwood, playing Sol Star, a spirited entrepreneur in a lawless town, and co-produced the independent film Buttleman, earning awards at the Sedona Film Festival and Deep Ellum Film Festival.
