In a bustling Chicago neighborhood, a young hockey player's life takes an unexpected turn when he's confronted by a group of rough-looking youths attempting to rob him. However, Bobby Barbato's athletic prowess allows him to fend off the muggers, and he ends up catching the youngest member, Louis DeLeon. After giving Louis a ride home, Bobby meets the boy's mother, Denise, a kind-hearted Hispanic woman, and begins to form a connection with her. Despite an initial confrontation, Bobby and Denise start to develop feelings for each other, while Louis forms a lasting bond with the hockey star. As their relationships grow, Bobby learns that there's more to life than just being a celebrity athlete.
