In a futuristic Britain, a charismatic and anti-social teenager named Alex leads a gang of thugs known as his "droogs", engaging in violent crimes such as rape and assault. The group's actions are a commentary on the societal issues of juvenile delinquency, psychiatry, and the effects of youth gangs on a community. After being captured, Alex is offered a chance to rehabilitate through an experimental psychological conditioning technique known as the "Ludovico Technique", which forces him to confront his violent tendencies and associate them with pain. However, this treatment ultimately fails to reform Alex, leaving him to struggle with his newfound lack of aversion to violence and sex, raising questions about the nature of free will and the consequences of altering human behavior.
