Tony Kenrick

An Australian-born writer of thriller fiction and caper comedies, Kenrick's novels typically follow a protagonist seeking to make easy money through mostly legitimate means, only to become entangled in a battle against serious villains. Several of his works blend science fiction elements, as seen in titles like The Night-Time Guy and Glitterbug, where non-scientist characters face extraordinary circumstances. Kenrick's style has drawn comparisons to that of Donald E. Westlake, particularly in his 1975 novel Stealing Lillian, which features a con artist staging a fake kidnapping to apprehend terrorists. This novel was later recognized as a classic by Art Bourgeau in The Mystery Lover's Companion.
