Takehiro Hira

Born in Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan, to actors Mikijirō Hira and Yoshiko Sakuma, Takehiro Hira began his acting career after making his theatrical debut in 2002 with Rokumeikan, written by Yukio Mishima. He worked closely with his father, who also played Othello in the same production, and later received recognition for his role as the last shogun, Yoshinobu Tokugawa, in the NHK taiga drama Atsuhime. Hira has appeared in numerous films, including those directed by Takashi Miike, such as Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai and Ace Attorney, and has toured extensively with productions like Hamlet, playing the role of the Player Queen. His performances have led to notable roles in various international productions, including the lead part in the British TV series Giri/Haji and recent appearances in American films Lost Girls & Love Hotels and Snake Eyes.
