Steve Ditko

Ditko studied under Batman artist Jerry Robinson at the Cartoonist and Illustrators School in New York City before beginning his professional career in 1953, working in the studio of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. He started as an inker and came under the influence of artist Mort Meskin, leading to his long association with Charlton Comics, where he worked in various genres such as science fiction, horror, and mystery. Ditko also drew for Atlas Comics, a precursor to Marvel Comics, and later co-created the superhero Captain Atom in 1960. His notable contributions to Marvel include his work on The Amazing Spider-Man, where he co-created many supporting characters and villains with Stan Lee, starting from issue #1. After leaving Marvel in 1966, Ditko went on to work for other publishers, including DC Comics, where he revamped the Blue Beetle character and created several other titles.
