Peter Weir

He began his career as a director with The Cars That Ate Paris, a feature film debut in 1974, and soon became a leading figure in the Australian New Wave cinema movement. Weir's early works included the mystery drama Picnic at Hanging Rock and the supernatural thriller The Last Wave, both released in 1975. His subsequent films, including the historical drama Gallipoli and the multinational production The Year of Living Dangerously, showcased his versatility and earned him significant commercial success. Throughout his career, Weir directed a diverse range of films across multiple genres, resulting in numerous Academy Award nominations and wins, as well as several prestigious awards for his direction.
