Patrick Stewart
Born in Mirfield near Dewsbury in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England, Patrick Stewart grew up as the son of Gladys, a weaver and textile worker, and Alfred Stewart, a Regimental Sergeant Major in the British Army. Stewart began his acting career, performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company in numerous productions, and went on to gain recognition in theatre and television. His breakthrough role came as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation, followed by a notable portrayal of Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men film franchise. Throughout his illustrious career spanning nearly half a century, Stewart has appeared in over 60 productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
