Molly Parker began her career as a necrophiliac medical student in the drama Kissed, garnering critical attention for her portrayal. Following this, she starred in the television thriller Intensity before landing her first major American film role in Waking the Dead. She gained further recognition for her role as a Las Vegas escort in The Center of the World, earning an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Female Lead. Parker had lead roles in several films throughout the early 2000s, including Max and Pure, before starring as Alma Garret on the HBO Western series Deadwood.
