Kim Dickens began her career in the entertainment industry with a film debut in the 1995 comedy Palookaville. She went on to play lead roles in several notable films including Truth or Consequences, N.M., Zero Effect, and Mercury Rising. Dickens also appeared in films such as Great Expectations, Hollow Man, House of Sand and Fog, Thank You for Smoking, The Blind Side, Gone Girl, and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. In addition to her film work, she had recurring roles on television series such as Treme, House of Cards, and Fear the Walking Dead, where she has portrayed Madison Clark since its inception in 2015.
