Born to actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, Jamie Lee Curtis began her acting career at a young age, making her television debut in a 1977 episode of the drama series Quincy, M.E. Her breakthrough role came in 1978 when she played Laurie Strode in John Carpenter's horror film Halloween, cementing her status as a prominent figure in the horror genre.
