James Wan

As a Malaysian-born Australian filmmaker, James Wan began his career in the horror genre, creating the Saw and Insidious franchises and the Conjuring Universe, which has become the highest-grossing horror franchise. His feature directorial debut came with Saw in 2004, followed by the Insidious series, where he directed the first film in 2010 and its 2013 sequel. Wan then achieved critical and commercial success with the first Conjuring film in 2013, going on to direct and produce subsequent films in the franchise. Additionally, Wan ventured outside of horror, directing Furious 7 and the DC Extended Universe films Aquaman and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, both of which grossed over $1 billion.
