Homer

As an ancient Greek poet, Homer was trained in the oral tradition of storytelling and is traditionally credited with composing the Iliad and the Odyssey, two epic poems that formed the foundation of ancient Greek literature. The Iliad tells the story of a quarrel between King Agamemnon and the warrior Achilles during the final year of the Trojan War, while the Odyssey follows the ten-year journey of Odysseus, king of Ithaca, back to his home after the fall of Troy. Homer's works are characterized by their exploration of human struggle, particularly in the Odyssey, where Odysseus endures the punishment of the gods, and often incorporated elements of comedy and laughter. His poems had a profound impact on ancient Greek culture and education, shaping ideals of heroism, glory, and honor, and continue to inspire artistic works across various mediums.
