Hideo Oguni

Hideo Oguni was born on July 9, 1904. As a prolific Japanese writer, he penned over 100 screenplays throughout his career. Notably, Oguni collaborated with renowned director Akira Kurosawa on several films, including Ikiru, The Seven Samurai, Throne of Blood, and The Hidden Fortress. This partnership led to the development of notable storytelling structures, such as the two-part framework of Ikiru. Oguni's work extended beyond collaborations with Kurosawa, with writing credits on films like Entotsu no mieru basho, Warning from Space, and Machibuse. He received the Jean Renoir Award from the Writers Guild of America West in 2013.
