Herbert Ross

An American choreographer, director, and producer, Herbert David Ross began his career in theatre, collaborating with notable figures such as Barbra Streisand, Stephen Sondheim, Richard Rodgers, and Arthur Laurents on Broadway productions like A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Finian's Rainbow, I Can Get It for You Wholesale, and Do I Hear a Waltz?. His work expanded to film, where he directed musicals and comedies including Goodbye, Mr. Chips, The Owl and the Pussycat, and Play It Again, Sam, earning Academy Award nominations for Best Picture and Best Director for the drama The Turning Point. In addition to his directing credits, Ross worked behind the scenes, choreographing shows and receiving a Tony Award nomination for Best Choreography for Anyone Can Whistle.
