Emmanuelle Béart

Born on the French Riviera, Emmanuelle Béart was the daughter of Geneviève Guillery, a former model of Croatian, Greek and Maltese descent, and Guy Béart, a singer and poet of Egyptian-born Sephardic Jewish descent. Her early life included spending summers in Montreal with the English-speaking family of William Sofin, whom her father was close to, and later completing her baccalauréat at Collège International Marie de France. After attending drama school in Paris, Béart began her career in the entertainment industry, initially appearing in television and then landing small roles in films such as Tomorrow's Children. Her breakthrough came when she played the avenging daughter in French hit Manon des Sources, earning her the César Award for Best Supporting Actress.
