Director
Curtis Hanson
Curtis Hanson began his career as a photographer and editor for Cinema magazine before transitioning into filmmaking. He made his directorial debut with the low-budget film Sweet Kill in 1973, but faced limited creative control. Hanson gained recognition through his writing for critically acclaimed films like The Silent Partner and White Dog. Disillusioned with his previous work, he shifted towards writing and directing thriller films, achieving success with The Bedroom Window in 1987. This marked the beginning of his partnership with screenwriter David Koepp, resulting in collaborations such as Bad Influence and The Hand That Rocks the Cradle. Hanson's subsequent efforts included the commercial hit The River Wild and the Oscar-winning L.A. Confidential, followed by the comedy-drama Wonder Boys and the hip-hop drama 8 Mile, which became a critical and commercial success.
