Boots Riley
Born on April 1, 1971, Raymond Lawrence "Boots" Riley began his career in the music industry as the lead vocalist of The Coup, a hip-hop group that also spawned his later project, Street Sweeper Social Club. In 2012, The Coup released an album of the same name, which would later serve as the basis for Riley's feature film directorial debut, Sorry to Bother You. This film marked a significant shift towards writing and directing, showcasing Riley's versatility beyond music. His work has also extended to television, including the absurdist comedy series I'm a Virgo, and a forthcoming feature film, I Love Boosters. Riley is also recognized for his involvement in various forms of social activism.
