Gran Torino

2008

In a worn-out Detroit suburb, Walt Kowalski, a gruff Korean War veteran, struggles to connect with his estranged family. His life becomes complicated when his next-door neighbor, Thao Vang Lor, is coerced into stealing Walt's prized possession - a 1972 Ford Gran Torino - as part of a gang initiation. However, Walt thwarts the theft and begins to mentor Thao, eventually forming a bond with the boy and his family. As Thao navigates the challenges of adolescence, Walt confronts his own prejudices and learns valuable lessons about compassion, forgiveness, and redemption. Ultimately, Walt's courageous stand against the gang leads to a tragic confrontation, but his legacy lives on through the young man he helped, leaving behind a lasting impact on the community.
