William Miller, a 15-year-old aspiring rock journalist, is hired by Rolling Stone to write an article about the fictional rock band Stillwater. On tour with the band in 1973, William becomes close to the musicians, particularly lead guitarist Russell Hammond and Penny Lane, the leader of a group of female fans known as "Band-Aids". As William writes his article, tensions rise between Russell and lead singer Jeff Bebe, and the band's professional dynamics are put to the test. After a disastrous night in New York, where the plane carrying the band crashes due to severe weather, everyone confides in each other and the group dynamic changes forever. William's article, initially rejected by Rolling Stone, is later verified and published, earning him recognition and acceptance within the music industry. Along the way, William undergoes a transformative journey, learning about the highs and lows of rock stardom and discovering his own identity.
