Skydance Media

David Ellison founded Skydance Media, a production and financing company based in Santa Monica, California, which initially focused on films, animation, television, video games, and sports. The company entered a five-year partnership with Paramount Pictures in 2009, co-producing and co-financing films together until this agreement was extended to 2021. In 2024, Skydance announced plans to merge with Paramount Global in an $8 billion deal, acquiring Paramount's controlling shareholder National Amusements and merging with the company through an all-stock transaction. The merger was completed on August 7, 2025, resulting in the formation of Paramount Skydance, with Skydance Media's film library being transferred to Paramount Pictures.
